How accurate is the farmer's almanac? ›

According to a University of Illinois study, the Almanac is only 52% accurate, which is basically a random process. Most short-term forecast models used by meteorologists tend not to go beyond two weeks because accurately predicting weather past that point is very difficult.

In the Northeast region, which includes the upper Hudson Valley and northernmost New Jersey, the Almanac is predicting above-normal snowfall for the winter of 2023-2024. The snowiest stretches will be mid-to-late November, mid-December, and early-to-mid January, according to the prediction.
